Colleen Deacon is running against Republican incumbent Congressman John Katko in this Syracuse-area district. Congressman Katko is not a co-sponsor of nearly any bills related to the LGBTQI community. Colleen Deacon is a former staffer for U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), one of the leaders on LGBT rights in the Senate. She strongly supports marriage equality. If she wins, she plans to fight for passage of the Equality Act in the House of Representatives. She has been endorsed by Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC for her positions on sensible gun control.
