Adam is running in the open seat in western Long Island being vacated by outgoing Republican State Senator Jack Martins. When Adam ran in 2014, he indicated on his ESPA candidate questionnaire that he was supportive of GENDA, the Conversion Therapy bill, the Child-Parent Security Act and other LGBTQI issues. He has received the endorsement of HRC and TransPAC. This district can potentially flip from Republican to Democrat, especially in a presidential election year, moving the senate closer to a pro-GENDA majority.
